Valerie Collins is a professional urban planner and Senior Environmental Manager at Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc., where she has worked for the last nine years. She attended the University of Houston as a vocal performance major and member of the Honors College. She received her Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2001. She has over 17 years of experience studying endangered species and managing environmental compliance for infrastructure projects in Texas. Ms. Collins presently holds a scientific recovery permit to research 31 animal species across Texas including the listed karst invertebrate species in Bexar, Travis and Williamson Counties. She has worked in Hays, Comal and Bexar County on large-scale planning efforts to facilitate compliance with the Endangered Species Act and foster a regional interest in maintaining the delicate balance between preserving our natural resources and providing economic opportunities and growth.
Ms. Collins has lived in San Antonio for 16 years and has two children, Eric and Olivia. Olivia is in the eighth grade and Eric recently graduated from Texas Tech University and works at Frost Bank.
