OPERA San Antonio is proud to partner with the Opera Guild of San Antonio and the San Antonio Public Library in the launch of our new Explore Opera Summer Apprentice Program. This collaboration will provide paid opportunities for up to 4 young artists, one per voice type, to put on a series of free community concerts for children and their families at local branches of the public library all over the city. Selected artists will also receive coaching in Italian with OSA Music Director Francesco Milioto and the opportunity to participate in a masterclass with OSA General & Artistic Director E. Loren Meeker.

*Due to the current parameters of the COVID-19 pandemic, all selected artists are asked to be flexible should the need arise to take concerts online with a virtual adaptation if necessary.

Audition Process

Once the first round of documentation is received, we will review materials and select artists that will be invited to send audition videos. Invitations will be sent the week of May 9, 2020 with a link to a new Google Form for video submission. For this audition you will be asked to submit two videos of you performing contrasting repertoire. One selection from a Mozart opera or representative of the bel canto style is highly encouraged. These videos should be as current as possible and not more than one year old. Videos made with pre-recorded audio tracks are permissible. If completing a video is not possible, please contact us about submitting audio recordings.

Should you have any questions on how to make audition videos in this time of quarantine, please contact Madeline Elizondo at madeline@operasa.org. Selected artists must fill out and supply links to their videos using the audition invitation Google Form by May 15, 2020.
