OPERA SA Education Programs

San Antonio Public Library Summer Programs

This summer, OPERA San Antonio is partnering with the San Antonio Public Library to host four special performances. At these performances, we will explore the beauty and magic of opera in a format designed for children and their families. Professional Singers will also perform select arias from popular productions.

OPERA SA School Visits

OPERA San Antonio takes its artists to surrounding schools for a 20-40 minute program introducing students K-12 to opera and provides a quick, engaging performance for your class. Programming can be adjusted to fit your scheudle and edited for length when necessary.

Pre-Opera Lectures

Prior to each opera performance, a lecture is provided to any ticket-holder beginning an hour before curtain. These lectures are designed to be educational for opera-goers of all ages and help the audience gain a better understanding of the production as well as the art form itself.  Dr. Kevin Salfen, of UIW, gives the pre-opera lecture of Verdi's La Traviata

Local Talent

Opera SA Chorus

OPERA San Antonio provide a local opportunity for a number of San Antonio and regional artists in its seasonal chorus, which rehearses several months out of the year. Members of this chorus participate in mainstage productions as required by the opera productions, but they are also asked to participate in other concerts and outreach events on an individual basis. OSA Chorus is a paying opportunity for our community's local talent.
