Opera San Antonio bringing child-friendly show June 23

Opera San Antonio’s “Explore Opera for Kids” will have a Uvalde performance June 23 at the Uvalde Grand Opera House, located at 104 W. North St. The free, family-friendly show will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Mendell Morgan, director of development for El Progreso Memorial Library, encourages the community to attend the event. Morgan describes the event as a fun, child-friendly version of an opera performance.

Organizers say the program, best for children ages 5-12, is designed to break down barriers to understanding opera, showcase amazing music and storytelling, and inspire young audiences.

The show “features soaring arias, dramatic scenes, and a fascinating look at the different voice types that make opera so exciting. Performed by the rising stars of the OPERA San Antonio–Classical Music Institute Young Artist Program, it’s an unforgettable chance to hear opera the way it was meant to be heard– live, powerful, and right in a real opera house,” says the Opera San Antonio website.
